Recent issues are in finding out the various possibilities to link the local community and society and to make use of Modern Architectural Assets not just through conservation of one building but through the creation of new roles, functions, programs, and systems.

We Investigated the scattered modern architectural assets in Gyeonggi Province so as to establish the principle of structuring database and selected list for existing Modern Architectural Assets and Collective type of Modern Architectural Assets which can be used for urban regeneration in the future. Primary types of modern architectural assets could be divided into 8 categories including infrastructures, industrial facilities, offices, educational facilities, commercial facilities, religious facilities and military facilities, etc.

The first step to extract the collective forms of modern architectural assets is to establish the pre-list with the collection of previous reports and research data on Gyenggido Architectural Assets of Modern period. After this, interviews and survey investigations of officials and experts were carried out to examine the situation of recognition and the present condition of the related work. In addition to this, we extracted the necessary issues that were lacking in the next step through an investigation of recent issues on modern architectural assets and policy trends from research on a collection of recent news articles from the Gyeonggi Ilbo.

Finally, though an objective quantitative analysis, we conducted a statistical investigation on the current status of Gyeonggi Province's relativity between current urban situation and modern architecural assets in order to find out locally identical characteristics.

Modern Architectural Assets are facing a crucial moment to adapt themselves to urban needs and it is necessary to find a way to utilize them considering integration between modern heritages and urban resources.

Even though Modern Architectural Assets can be registered as “Registered Cultural Properties” if they have historical value and are over 50 years old based on an owner’s autonomous application, many industrial properties have been demolished before being found as valuable properties though the assessment process.

As a result, We investigated the types and remaining architectures in Geyonggido Province in order to establish the new criteria for investigation and management of modern architectures and set up the existing modern architectures’ list. This research aims to find integrated historical settings of modernization and industrialization in Gyeonggido Province with GIS Analysis and Interviews. This can give a specific viewpoint to consider the modern Architectural assets in organic connection between industrial heritages, relevant facilities and laborers’ lives. This approach shows a possible way of excavating the valuable industrial routes and historic districts which can be adaptable for future investigation and management plan for modern architectural assets of Gyoenggido.
